This is really interesting – an attempt to use the techniques of social networking to sidestep the problems of questionable certifications for finding out about real skills and capabilities of people involved in agile software development.

What seems to happen is that a common reaction to an impending job loss is to rush around “guilt-tripping” and generally pressuring prople they know to recommend them on services such as LinkedIn. Every downsizing or company reorganization is accompanied by a flurry of LinkedIn activity.
With that in mind I have a general sense of distrust of such recommendations. I have a slight hope that this new “vouch for” service might remain more free of that effect because it is so specialized and focused on evidence more than opinion.
I guess we’ll have to see.
