10 Keys to a Successful Portal Project
In web development, the word “portal” is one of those terms which means different things to, and holds different assumptions for, different people. From one viewpoint, the software I mostly work with is portal software, but from another viewpoint a portal is something else entirely.
This makes it especially tricky to evaluate commercial offerings and come to a practical “make or buy” decision – first you need to work out what sort of “portal” any particular offering has been built for, and then whether it makes sense for the desired application.
