I’m still concerned by the types of information being collected. In particular, I can’t see any evidence of any organization collecting the really valuable ephemera of our time – things such as advertisements and junk mail.

With the rise of green sensibilities and growing emphasis on privacy and personal choice it is distinctly possible that we might currently be in an era which the future might look back upon as a golden age of junk mail. For social and economic historians of the future, junk mail and other transient, disposable media might be a unique resource. Yet it is all simply disposed of.
